History
In response to the growing number of Men’s Sheds across Alberta and knowing the benefits of networking and shared learning, the Alberta Men’s Sheds Association (AMSA) was incorporated in May 2023. Led by volunteer Shed leaders, the AMSA recognizes the potential to strengthen and expand Sheds province-wide and define its role in that development.
Mission and Vision
Guided by input from Shed leaders, the AMSA has developed the following foundational principles to drive its ongoing work.
Vision
A thriving network of Men’s Sheds across Alberta—vital spaces of connection that reduce isolation, enhance well-being, and provide purposeful opportunities that positively impact the participants and their community.
Mission
To support the growth, sustainability, and connectivity of Men’s Sheds across Alberta. We foster inter-Shed relationships, facilitate the sharing of skills and experiences, raise awareness of the Men’s Sheds movement, engage external stakeholders, and provide the practical information and resources needed for Sheds to thrive.
Guiding Principles
Autonomy – AMSA respects the independence of individual Men’s Sheds while fostering connections across the network in Alberta.
Collaboration – AMSA builds strong partnerships with community, provincial, and national stakeholders to support a thriving Shed network. We actively collaborate with Men’s Sheds Canada, sharing resources and promoting national initiatives.
Inclusion – AMSA cultivates a culture of belonging by fostering safe, diverse, and equitable spaces. We are committed to reconciliation and engaging in meaningful dialogue.
